Call Clearance
Setup

You have a key. Here's the rest.

Nothing to install. Connect your Retell or Vapi account on your dashboard, or put your key into your own calling software. Either way, the check happens before the phone rings.

On Retell

  1. On your dashboard, under Connect your voice AI, pick Retell and paste your Retell API key (Settings, API Keys).
  2. Pick the number calls go out from. The agent defaults to that number's outbound agent; pick another if you like.
  3. Wherever you create calls today (a script, a workflow tool, your CRM), send them to api.callclearance.com/v1/call instead, with the client ID and the number. The dashboard has the request ready to copy.
  4. Try it: record an opt-out for your own phone, then send a call to it. You get "placed": false with the reason, and nothing is dialed.

On Vapi

  1. On your dashboard, under Connect your voice AI, pick Vapi and paste your private API key.
  2. Pick the number and the assistant your calls go out on.
  3. Wherever you start calls today, send them to api.callclearance.com/v1/call instead, with the client ID and the number. The dashboard has the request ready to copy.
  4. Try it: record an opt-out for your own phone, then send a call to it. You get "placed": false with the reason, and nothing is dialed.

Your own software

  1. Right before each call, send us the number and which business you're calling for, with your key.
  2. Read the answer. Only call on a yes.
  3. A no, an error, a timeout or "out of credit" all mean don't call.
  4. Send us permissions and stop requests the same way, as they happen.
  5. The exact request shapes are in the technical docs.
Why not a tool inside the agent? A Retell or Vapi agent only runs once the call is connected, so a check there comes after the phone has already rung, and the call has already been made. That's why the check sits in front of the call request: nothing reaches Retell or Vapi until it says allow. We keep your platform key encrypted, use it only to place calls you send us, and delete it when you disconnect.

Building an AI that decides who to call and places the calls itself? Point it at our tool server, mcp.callclearance.com/mcp, with your key and it can check before each dial.

Getting started

What do I get when I sign up?

An account, a dashboard and a key. Connect your Retell or Vapi account, or put the key into your own calling software, and every call from then on gets checked before it's placed. There's nothing to install.

How long until it's working?

A few minutes to connect Retell or Vapi on the dashboard, then point whatever starts your calls at us. If your own code places the calls, it's one web request before each dial, and most people have it in by the end of the day.

Do I need an engineer?

For Retell or Vapi, connecting is a settings screen. Whatever starts your calls today has to point at us instead, which is usually a one-line change. For custom software, whoever wrote it needs about an hour.

Can I try it before putting real numbers through?

Yes. Record an opt-out for your own phone number, then check it or send a call to it: you'll see block with the reason, and nothing is dialed.

Which platforms does it work with?

Retell and Vapi by connecting your account: we place the call for you, only on allow. Bland, ElevenLabs, Twilio and anything else through the web request from your dialing code. If you can make a web request, it works.

Using it

What exactly gets checked?

In this order: people who told you to stop, known suers, the national Do Not Call registry, the state lists, whether you have permission on file for that number and that business, and whether it's a legal hour where the phone is. Opt-outs, consent and hours run from your first call; the registry and litigator checks depend on data being set up, and the coverage page says exactly what is loaded today. Every result is written down, including anything we couldn't check and why.

What do I do with "block"?

Don't call. The answer says why. If it's about permission, get permission and save it. If the number is on a list, it's off the table.

What if the check errors or times out?

Treat it as a no. With a connected account that happens by itself: if the check doesn't finish, we don't make the call. From your own software, your code should do the same.

Why does the national Do Not Call check say "skipped"?

The government requires the business the calls are for to hold its own subscription to the registry. Until that account number is on their record with us, we can't run that one check, and we say so rather than pretend. Send us the number, or ask us to register them, which takes a day or two. Every other check runs from your first call.

Each of my clients is a separate business. How does that work?

Each one gets its own record under your account. Permission is tracked per business. Stop requests are shared: if someone tells any of them to stop, they're off limits for all of them, which is what the law expects.

How do I record consent?

Best: capture it where it happens. On your dashboard, make a capture key for the client and paste the one-line snippet on their web form. When someone ticks the consent box and submits, it saves the exact wording they saw, the page, the time, their IP and browser, and a copy of the form. No site to edit? Share the hosted consent page instead. You can also send consent through the API or the GoHighLevel "Record consent" step: the number, which business it's for, where it came from, and the wording. Try the demo to see what gets kept.

How do I record an opt-out?

Same way, and it takes effect on the next check, across every client on your account.

How fast is it?

Typically under 200 milliseconds from US regions. It won't be what makes a call feel slow.

Does it handle text messages too?

Yes. Say "sms" instead of "voice" and the same checks run with the rules for texting.

Does it work outside the US?

No. US numbers only for now.

Evidence

A client or a lawyer wants proof a number was OK to call. What do I send them?

Send them the Call Record. Every check returns an evidence id (like ev_10422); open /v1/evidence/{number}.html?client_id={client}&record={evidence id} with your key and you get one page that starts with the answer (checked before dialing, allowed or blocked, when), then every check with how old its list was, the consent you recorded in its own words, everything that happened to that number, and the chain hashes showing nothing was edited. Print it to PDF or forward it. The same content is also available as a PDF (.pdf) and a data file (no extension).

What's the hash chain?

Every log entry carries a fingerprint of the entry before it. If any entry were changed after the fact, the chain would break and the report would say so. It's how you show the record is original, not reconstructed. Each day's last fingerprint is also published and timestamped on the Bitcoin blockchain through OpenTimestamps, so any change to a past day's records, by us or anyone else, would show. Records from before Sept 29, 2026 are covered by the day's published fingerprint but have no per-record proof file.

How long are records kept?

For as long as you're a customer, and you can export everything at any time. If you leave, download your records first; tell us and we'll help.

Who owns the data?

You do. We hold it and keep it safe. We don't sell it, share it, or use it for anything but your checks.

Billing

What does it cost?

Free to start: 500 checks a month (50 a day) for one business, no card, one free account per company. Paid plans are priced by the businesses you protect, with checks bundled: Starter $49 (1 business, 5,000 checks), Agency $199 (10 businesses, 25,000 checks, white-label, resell rights), Scale $599 (50 businesses, 150,000 checks). Past the bundle, checks are $0.01, $0.005 or $0.004 each. An agency with ten clients making 100,000 calls a month pays $574 on Agency. Full table on the pricing page.

What counts as a check?

One call to check one number. Recording consent, recording opt-outs, pulling records and proof files, and exporting are free on every plan, including Free.

What happens past my plan's included checks?

On Free, checks pause until the month turns (months are calendar months, UTC). On a paid plan, checks past the bundle draw a small overage from a prepaid balance on your account; turn on automatic top-up and it never runs dry. If a check can't be charged it comes back as a 402 with the reason, which your software should treat as a no.

Can I cancel?

Any time, from Manage billing on your dashboard. There's no contract. A cancelled plan drops to Free; nothing is deleted, and you can keep downloading your records.

When do I add a card?

Only when you start a paid plan. Sign up, use the Free plan's 500 checks a month, install the GoHighLevel app, run real numbers. Two things Free doesn't include: we file FTC registrations on paid plans only (on Free the national list check says "skipped" unless the business already has a subscription account number), and Free is one account per company. When you need more businesses or more checks, pick a plan on your dashboard. Nothing you've set up changes.

Security and support

Where does it run?

On Fly.io in the United States, one region, with daily backups kept for 60 days and a second copy pulled every morning. Live status and what to do during an outage: callclearance.com/status.

What if my key leaks?

Click Make a new key on the dashboard. The old one stops working that second.

Is this legal advice?

No. It runs the checks and keeps the record. What counts as consent for your campaigns is a question for your lawyer. We give you the evidence; they give you the opinion.

How do I get help?

[email protected]. A person answers.

Ready when you are.

Sign up, connect your platform, and your next call is checked. No card on the Free plan.
